    After being designated for assignment Monday, Vanasco will now join the Dodgers organization as he works his way toward the majors. The 24-year-old righty had been nursing a knee injury all season before returning to Double-A, where he's allowed six earned runs through 2.1 frames. If Vanasco is able to right the ship, he could reach Triple-A by the end of the season. In order to make room for Vanasco on the Dodgers' 40-man roster, Zack Burdi was designated for assignment.

    Johnson (0-2) blew the save and took the loss Thursday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

    Johnson had the Diamondbacks down to their final strike before surrendering a double to Ketel Marte, followed by Corbin Carroll's walk-off base hit. It's Johnson's first blown save of the year despite his 6.85 ERA and 1.88 WHIP through 22.1 innings. While the 32-year-old righty has struggled, Daniel Bard has pitched to a 0.57 ERA. Johnson's grip on the closing job may be slipping.

    Brogdon said Monday after the Celtics' 103-84 loss to the Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals that he may require offseason surgery to address a partial tendon tear in his right elbow/forearm, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.

    Brogdon reportedly suffered the injury in Game 1 of the series and proceeded to shoot 20 percent from the field while averaging 3.0 points per game in his remaining five appearances against the Heat. He ended up sitting out the Celtics' Game 6 win and was available only in a limited capacity for Game 7, playing just seven minutes. The injury resulted in a disappointing finish to what was a successful season overall for Brogdon, who took home the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 boards, 3.7 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 26.0 minutes per game over 67 appearances during the regular season. He's on the Celtics' books for two more seasons and carries cap hits of $22.5 million for both years.
